The Melrose Mansion
Victorian Gothic style designed by noted architect James Freret in 1884 and built for the Lanaux Family. Once owned by notorious New Orleans club owner Sol Owens who used the building to house the girls in his conga line. Restored to reflect the original grandeur of the stately home, Sidney Torres IV designed and supervised the entire project. The Melrose is a classic courtyard mansion with large French windows, roomy balcony with fingerlace ironwork and pillared verandas. A grand staircase takes guests to their rooms, each decorated with one-of-a-kind antique furnishings, artwork and fine architectural details.
